I'm in Time Out New York

I wrote a letter to the editor:

Not surprisingly, after an issue of TONY touches the issue of gay rights, some ignorant male in the armed forces bashes a picture that dare reflects reality. Would a picture of the same thing with 2 heterosexuals offend you? I'm not talking to those that would be offended (I get it, but respectfully disagree) because I doubt Mr. Davis would be offended. It is homophobia like his that is the worst--silent, but deadly. Extreme case: Matthew Shephard. It is clear through his comment of how he doesn't "mind" LGBT armed forces members. And worse, saying that two Navy men kissing makes the Navy a joke. I'm proud of our gays and lesbians in the military. I hope the commitment they show will continue to prove that no matter who they are having sex with (and what hat they are wearing behind closed doors--it DOES happen, btw. Heard of fetishes??), gays and lesbians are vital contributors to the US military.

They published this:

Not surprisingly, after an issue of TONY touches the issue of gay
rights ["What is gay culture," TONY 661], some ignorant male in the armed forces bashes a picture that dare reflects reality ["Reply All"; I, New York; TONY 662]. It is homophobia like [letter writer Shawn Davis's] that is the worst--silent, but deadly. I'm proud of our gays and lesbians in the military. I hope the commitment they show will continue to prove that no matter who they are having sex with (and what hat they are wearing behind closed doors), gays and lesbians are vital contributors to the armed forces.
